- Fast, automatic measurements
- Laser targeting for increased accuracy
- Error indication instead of false readings when target is not capable of giving an accurate measurement
- Stores numbers of measurements taken to calculate square footage and volume
- Switch from feet/inches to metric units with the push of a button
A measuring genius! Here's a laser-measuring device that can calculate length, width, area and even volume at the touch of a button. You can even measure long distances in increments of 50 feet--all you have to do is use the "Double Segment" program and you can stop and start a measurement. It's foolproof and simple to use: Just point at a target, press a button and voila, instant measurement, whether it's length, area or volume. List this one under "coolest feature" - the laser targeting system shows a ring of laser dots on your target area. Sure, we're all professionals here, but that's just plain cool.

DM S50L utilizes ultrasonic technology to measure up to 50' and with laser pattern to illuminate target area to aid accuracy. Measurement function includes length, area, volume, double segment, and continuous measurement. Converts between feet inches and

We are getting closer to moving and I'll want to check room sizes when looking at homes we might consider. This tool can very quickly measure a room and you can quickly sketch the layout and add length and width as you walk around looking. This would be nice for later comparisons. I found that ceilings will not measure well because of lack of solidity of the material. It can place a laser circle of dots on the far wall so you see where it is measuring, the measurement is made sonically!
I am impressed with the tool - you add 4.25 inches to the dimensions (length of the tool). Max length for measuring is 50 ft - but it has a setting to add two lengths measured to get a longer measurement. |

| Great for quick measurements. Accurate. Easy to use. No more messing with tape measures. |

I cannot believe the recent rave reviews for this product. They must be plants from employees etc. Don't get fooled - this is an ULTRASONIC device and uses sound for actual measuring. The "laser targeting" AKA laser pointer is just a cheap gimmick to fool the unsuspecting.
TRUE laser distance measuring devices measure distance with light and have 1/16" accuracy and are very consistent. Better yet, you can pick one up for under $100.
Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this obsolete technology. |

This unit is perfect for removing the ultrasonic bell (delicately I might add), and extending the bell with a a cable to remotely measure levels in a cistern. (not much more than 6-8ft with 24-26awg straight modular phone cable). Use stranded wire, not solid. This mod saves on removing a concrete, tiled floor section to check you water level. I've struggled with the thought of re-mounting laser optics on a newer model, but gave up on the reliability of optics in a damp, cold, wet environment. Other ultrasonic measures have the feedhorn molded into the body, which makes them much tougher than this baby to modify.
Obiously wrecked a few of these units along the way upon disecting them. Chalked that up as a tuition payment.
Zircon does not know the power of their Kung fu is strong.
Rock on...Zircon...
PS: Laser makes a good cat toy! |
| can't say i am impressed with it but it works (more or less) | 2010-04-09 | 2 / 5 |

| Need to reset every now and then, accuracy is +/- 1;2 ft. So i can not say it does not work because it does and trying to do best but i would not rely on accuracy of the tool. Also cant really use it outside on sunny day. Because it wont see reflection of the laser to calculate the distance. |
