Great quality as always from SK. It's becoming harder and harder to find quality tools made in the USA, and SK is one of the few companies that still offer good old American products at reasonable prices. While companies like Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Husky have all sold out to cheap Chinese outsourcing in the past 5-10 years, SK has held true, and it really shows in their products. This wrench set has every size you need, and will certainly last a lifetime; probably two or three if cared for properly. They are very hefty, and the mirror finish is extremely durable. What else can you ask for?
Serving 5 years on a submarine, I had used every brand of wrench you can think of, and these were always the standout. They stood up to the harshest abuse and saltwater conditions over many years, and still looked like new. When I got back home to Virginia, I found that one of these (9/16) had somehow migrated into my personal toolbox, and this reminded me to buy an entire set.
This set was $121 w/free shipping on when I got them in April of 2010, and I consider that to be a steal; they are easily worth twice as much. If you are looking for a high quality wrench set for a great price, look no further. |

These SK Wrenches are absolutely excellent in terms of quality of construction, plating, fit, and features. Nothing to complain about in any of these categories. They will absolutely stand up to a lifetime of use and abuse as well as any truck brand wrench. They will grip the hard to grip bolts that have started to round or are damaged just as well as the big names do. They are far and away above the Craftsman / Husky / Kobalt wrenches that they compete against in my opinion.
However......
There is an ergonomic issue in my opinion. The edges of these wrenches tend to be comparatively sharp or squared, when compared to say my Snap-On wrenches. Because of this - unless you have hands with skin like boot leather - they can become a bit unpleasant on your hands under high loads of torque pressure, especially the larger wrenches turning stuck or hard to turn larger bolts. Because of this I have given the product 4 stars instead of 5. If S-K will round the center portion of the handles like Snap-On and the other big brands do - they will have a hard core winner with these wrenches. |
